he Laser Manufacturing Laboratory (LiMG@HKUST) advances the science and technology of light-driven manufacturing. We use pulsed lasers and direct laser writing to pattern, print, and assemble functional materials with micro/nanoscale resolution, building devices for energy, health, environment, and robotics.
Mission
To establish a world-class laser manufacturing platform that bridges fundamental materials science and deployable devices — and to translate it into impact through the Greater Bay Area, anchored at the HKUST Shenzhen-Hong Kong Collaborative Innovation Research Institute (SHCIRI).
Why laser manufacturing
- Mask-free, digital, on-demand patterning of functional materials.
- Single-step integration from material synthesis to device fabrication.
- Micro/nanoscale resolution for wearable, flexible, and miniaturized devices.
Track record
Since its founding, the group has published 98 papers in leading journals including Advanced Materials, Nano-Micro Letters, Small, ACS Nano, and Advanced Functional Materials, and is actively building downstream demos and startups at SHCIRI.
